New York: M.W. Dodd. 1853. Quarto. 9 vols. Vols. 1-7 are bound in dry leather covers with old brown library cloth over spine and onto covers, white library pen lettering on cloth. Vol. 1, cloth coming loose from spine, binding broken in middle, first few pages loose. Vol. 2, front cover detached, volume broken into two parts. Vol. 3, a little loose at hinges but cloth still holding. Vol. 4, book block separated from covers & spine cloth and broken into two pieces. Vol. 5. still together but starting to come apart at hinges. Vol. 6, front cover detached. Vol. 7, front cover detached and rear cover on the way. These 7 volumes need to be rebound. Vols. 9 & 10 are nicely and solidly bound in heavy library buckram with gilt on black title labels, cloth soiled, yellow floral design endpapers with green cloth hinge, good condition. All volumes with library tags & typical markings, light foxing but heavier on some endpapers. John Benjamin Wallace (1810-1862) Presbyterian minister, graduate of Princeton and best known as the editor of the Presbyterian Quarterly Review from 1852 until his death in July of 1862.
