Alexander Moncrief Proudfit (1770-1843). He entered the ministry of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church and was made pastor of the congregation at Salem, N.Y., in 1795, where he lived until 1835, when he became agent of the American Colonization Society. He resigned that post in 1842 and died in 1843. Henry Davis (1771-1852) clergyman and president of two colleges in their formative periods. A graduate of Yale, he became president of Middlebury College in 1810 and in 1818 was offered the presidency of Hamilton College.
